While we don’t yet know exactly what our community will look like, there are some fundamental attributes that we feel are critical for any intentional community designed to support individuals with Austims and/or Developmental Disabilities.

• Residential buildings that employ biophilic and autism-friendly design to create safe, comfortable homes for residents
• Community spaces that promote social engagement, healthy living and life-long education
• Access to transportation, both public and private, that connects residents to the broader community
• Robust applicant screening to ensure all approved residents and their loved ones are able and willing to fully participate in the community and contribute to its ongoing success
• Utilization of technology to support independence and safety
• Framework that provides peace of mind for residents and their families by ensuring that those who want it have a forever home at Lotus Village
• Clear and enforceable community guidelines that promote kindness, respect for others, cooperation and participation
